Good morning warriors!

A new month is looming upon us. This is exciting! But there is  also a lot of "excuses" coming up that will try to convince us that we should put our health off...You know what, you don't have to listen to those excuses if you know how to incorporate those pleasures into your lifestyle.

The biggest key to success in your fitness journey is learning how to live a lifestyle built on the foundation of health. This doesn't mean you don't eat a slice of pumpkin pie or eat your kids Halloween candy....it means that you find a way to ensure that those "junk foods" do not kick your butt.

We are now entering the holiday months which means that not only are our normal excuses in the equation, but now we also have special holiday excuses....Here is a few that you may recognize.

REGULAR EXCUSES
"I've got a lot going on at work right now."
"I'll start when I lose weight... " (That one is my favorite)
"I ate Taco Bell last night because I didn't have time to cook."
"I needed a few drinks after a day like today."

HOLIDAY EXCUSES:
"My kid's Halloween candy is at the house....I can't let him/her eat it all...it's bad for him/her"
"I just really love all things pumpkin...."
"It is Thanksgiving! I'm going to eat it ALL"
"All these holiday parties are getting to me."


These are commonly said in gym all over the world. You are not alone. Lucky for you though, I have 5 EASY LIFESTYLE changes that can turn those excuses into distant memories.

5 EASY LIFESTYLE CHANGES TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

  1. MOVE MORE!

    This means 2 things....Workout consistently (4 days a week is perfect) and literally...Move more. 

    Get more active in your regular day: play with your kids, go for walks, stand up more when you are home, clean, take up a hobby, go hiking, take a trip to the snow, the options are endliess...and in my opinion is one of the most important steps in the process of being healthy. I would attribute it to the number 1 reason I eat ice cream at the level that I do and don't lose my strength and body shape. As humans we were designed to move..We used to be primarily lean and strong structured animals. I believe we can get back there... If you move more, you will expend more energy..
     
  2. DON'T SHAME YOURSELF

    We often get so overwhelmed when we indulge in the unhealthy pleasures of life...which often leads to more indulgence and guilt. 

    Eating your triple scoop ice cream sunday in your car because you don't want anyone to know is what I call "It doesn't count if no one sees it" method.

    Posting a joke on Facebook about your dad bod or the fact that you ate a whole pizza to yourself ..it is usually a tactic that is used to cope with a feeling of shame. the "If I own it, I overcome it method" 

    the key to overcoming these indulgences is not falling victim to either one....I would much rather advise a person to own it for what it is, and then do the next best thing. If you beat yourself up it will only get worse. If you own it, and move forward you are already right back on the right path.
     
  3. FIND HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES......THAT YOU LIKE!

    The third piece to the puzzle is the most important one!

    Find foods that you like and enjoy that are healthy. Do not just eat something because someone said it is healthy.... It doesn't matter kale is good for you if it is not prepared in a way that suits your taste buds.  

    You like pumpkin pie? There is some superbly BOMB Pumpkin Pie Super Shake recipes....I'll even send them to you if you'd like.

    You don't "like" healthy foods,.....FIND RECIPES that prepare them in a way that you do like. You can not lead a healthy life if you hate what you are eating, but you also can't lead a healthy life if your eating habits revolve around fast food and soda. 

    It takes some research, but I guarantee that as you begin to cook some awesome meals...that feeling of accomplishment will boost you forward even more.
     
  4. UNDERSTAND WHAT "I DON'T HAVE TIME" REALLY MEANS

    "I don't have time" actually means..... "I'm lazy....unprepared....and I want to feel better about it."

    You see people say they get fast food because its faster....as they sit in a drive through for 5-10 minutes, it takes another 2-5 minutes to pay and leave the restaurant, drive home or to the office (5-15 minutes),  and then set up the table or eating area (2-5 minutes)...That is in total a minimum of 14 and 35 minutes...if you are lucky....I was being generous with my time allotted....

    You know how long it takes to cook a healthy meal actually. I do because I time myself a lot of the time. It can take as low as 2-5 minutes and for more extravagant meals it can take up to 20.... (those times are for meals cooked in a time crunch).

    You do have time to eat better..... but the problem is that you don't want to cook. It is easier to sit on your Facebook feed and watch viral videos while you wait in a drive through.

    If you understand that TIME is not the issue, you will be more likely to utilize the time more for your health.  If you want some of my 5-20 minute recipes feel free to email me at Mikey@tfwvisalia.com They really aren't hard to do.  Start utilizing your time and you will succeed...please don't fall victim to "I don't have time"...
     
  5. WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU ATTEND A SOCIAL GATHERING MATTERS

    Want to know what to do at a party?

    Indulge!! Enjoy life....

    Seriously....do it. but make sure your life outside of those social gatherings is ON POINT. It's the same thing I tell people with fitness, a 1 hour workout is not going to make you buff...1 party is not going to make you fat. 

    Seriously. You have to make the foundation of your livelihood healthy.... and then you can indulge in some "bad" things GUILT FREE! 

    Now if you have multiple parties every weekend, you may have to strategize which party you want to indulge at more, and you will have to focus on not overindulging at these parties too. For the most part though, are party is a celebration...CELEBRATE!

Remember folks! a Lifestyle of health is far more important to your overall success than short term changes ever will be. You deserve to be HEALTHY not just look like you are. Set the foundation to your health and happiness and I guarantee you results....It works, you just have to have your foundation....
